The Sea to Summit X-Bowl is great to have with you while backpacking. It’s compactable and lightweight helping with your overall pack weight. It can be stacked into other containers to save on space when packing up your backpack. The underside can be used as a cutting board when out in the backcountry. It comes in a lime green colour so it should be easy to find in your cooking stuff. It can handle a variety of foods from pasta to stir fry and even soup without losing its shape.

How It Was Tested
Our tester used it while cooking exciting food on the West Coast Trail. After a big day of backpacking, our tester found that they could cook a lot of food and it all fit in the bowl. You won’t have to worry about going hungry. It’s handy that it can handle different types of food including soup for when it’s cold outside and you want to warm up without having to worry about the bowl sagging. It’s collapsible fitting nicely in the GSI Escape 2L Pot for storage. They found that the black bottom can be used as a cutting board and the numbers inside of the bowl worked well to measure ingredients while cooking, making it multi-purpose. Being small, it doesn’t take much space in your backpack allowing for other items to be carried.
Unfortunately, there were some negatives. It’s too hot to hold the sides of the bowl right after pouring the food into the bowl. It might need a few minutes to cool down or you can hold it from the bottom, or alternatively, put it on the sand to safely eat your meal. Food, especially cheesy food can get stuck in the bowl. Make sure to clean it soon after eating to remove excess food and prevent the need to scrub the bowl. Bears might be attracted to the food lockers if food remnants are left in the cooking dishes.
