When there’s a light wind while hiking or cross-country skiing, but it isn’t cold enough to wear a toque, the Chaos Multi Tubular Headwear comes in handy to protect your head or neck. It can be used as a hat to keep your head and ears warm, or as a neck warmer to keep your cheeks and nose from being frostbitten. Working out intensely, as shown in the picture above, wearing a hat makes it too hot to exercise. A toque can cause overheating when working out. The Chaos Multi Tubular Headwear allows the hot humid air to escape the top of the head while providing a thin layer of fabric to protect your head.

How It Was Tested
Our tester tried out the Chaos Multi Tubular Headwear while cross-country skiing on different days with varying temperatures. They found it to be durable, lightweight and multifunctional. The fabric is light and thin while keeping your body warm. It packs up nice and small in your Osprey Tempest 24 Day Pack. the tubular headwear allows your ponytail to stick out while still covering your ears and head. It won’t push up the multi tubular headwear so high that it’s above your ears. It’s long enough that even with the ponytail, it has enough material to cover your entire head.
One downside is that when covering your mouth, that part of the multi tubular headwear can get humid and uncomfortable to wear. It sadly doesn’t come in all the colours, limiting you to possibly not find the colour you like. It’s best to use this item when it isn’t super cold outside. This should be included in your cross-country ski stocking stuffers wish list! It’s reasonably priced to get for your loved one.
Our tester found that it could be used in multiple ways including:
- Headband: To keep your hair away from your face, without putting it up in a ponytail.
- Hairband: If you forget a hair elastic or it warms up unexpectedly, you can put your hair up and away from your neck.
- Balaclava: If it’s really cold outside and you need to protect your head, neck, forehead and chin, this can be a useful item to have with you.
- Hat: It can be used as a light hat. The air escapes the top easily.
- Neck warmer: It can be placed around your neck keeping it warm.
- Pirate Bandana: I’ve never used this myself but could be another useful method to use!
