These Olang Parigi 2.0 Spike Boots from Kunitz Shoes are awesome! It’s nice to have the option not to bring an additional pair of ice grips such as Kahtoola Microspikes when hiking in the neighbourhood or in the mountains.

Flipping From Flat Side to Spiked Cleats
If you encounter ice as you walk, it’s easy to flip from the flat red side to the spiked cleat part of the boot to have the spikes showing and available to stabilize you on the ice. If the spiked cleats are no longer needed, flip them over so that the spikes are stowed in the sole. A red lever is provided by the company to help flip from the spiked cleats to the flat side (as shown in the third picture above). If you forget to bring the lever, it can get messy to flip the sides with your fingers, once you’ve started walking in the snow and potentially mud.
While hiking, these boots work on flat surfaces as well as on steep icy inclines and descents on snow or ice. Our tester was able to have a lot more stability and confidence having the spiked boots compared to my parents who didn’t have any grippers attached to their boots.
Extra Features
The boots are insulated and lined with very warm fabric throughout the entire boot, rated to keep you warm to -30°C in winter conditions. They have extra metal hooks at the top of the boot to allow you to pull your laces tightly and provide ankle support. The boots come in various colours of red, green, black, or navy blue (like the ones above that I bought). Different sizes are available to accommodate your foot size. These wonderful features are fantastic but it does mean that the boots are expensive, which is a downside.
Different Hikes
The spike boots are breathable and ideal for winter hikes and when partaking in 14 fun Date Ideas for Valentine’s Day adventures. The boots also have great grip without spikes when walking on rocks. Your feet might overheat if you use them past the winter season because of the insulated fur in the boot.
Video Overview of How it was Tested
I’m showing a close-up of my Olang Parigi 2.0 Spike Boots. My mom is pointing to the spikes protruding out of the boot. I start walking to show how easy it is to walk up the snowy and icy hill with the spikes gripping the ice and creating traction.
My mom is having difficulty walking up the steep ice incline without spikes in her boots. You can see her watching her footing and maintaining her balance by stretching her arms out to keep her balance. It’s easy for me to walk up the hill with my spike boots, as they are gripping the ice for me to easily walk without fear of slipping or falling.
My dad is watching his footing since he isn’t wearing ice grips to make sure he doesn’t fall. Compared to my dad, I’m easily able to walk on a flat stretch of ice without fear of falling because my spikes are digging into the ice to create traction.
Both my parents are cautious as they go down a steep decline on icy terrain. I’m finding it easy to walk down without being extra cautious. My spikes are gripping the ice to create balance and for me to maintain stability.
